RETIRED MEMBERS SECTION

October 2021

We have now established an organisation of the Retired Members Section of the North Staffs Postal Branch with a Chair, Organising Secretary and Financial Liaison Officer to undertake the practical tasks necessary for its functioning.

Craig Jones the Branch Financial Secretary chaired our inaugural meeting which was very successful in bringing CWU members together from across North Staffordshire for a friendly, enjoyable and good humoured discussion of how we should operate and what we should do.

We have booked the North Staffs Hotel at Station Road, Stoke for our next meeting on Wednesday 17^th November starting at 10.30am with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

We also agreed to organise a Christmas Lunch for members on Wednesday 15^th December and after some diligent enquiries by the Financial Liaison Officer, Andy Cawley, have made arrangements with the Borough Arms Hotel at Newcastle to offer us either a two or three course lunch for the occasion with a non-refundable deposit of £5.00 from members with the additional cost of the meal met from our CWU funds.   Previous experience of these events has shown them to be very popular and enjoyable so members would be well advised to place deposits as early as possible.   We will be issuing a letter shortly to Retired Members with details of how this will work.

We had hoped to organise a visit to the Blists Hill Victorian Town and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum in Shropshire but this will not be viable this late in the year so we hope to organise this for our first event next year during springtime.
